A little light-painting in Cologne

With the night coming early I thought it would be a goot opportunity to get out and try some "Light Painting". I went out with my son and we didn't stray far, mostly shooting with a tripod around the east side of Südbrucke. We had no special equipment other than a tripod and a couple of small torches.

It's a lot of fun just running about with a torch an then seeing what you've got.

The red was painted by holding a the rear light from one of our bikes.

As there were several shots taken without moving the camera it's easy to use them together to make simple animations.

This photo was one of our first tries at a different location. There were a couple of people who walked through and asked us what we were doing. If you look hard you can see their feet in the right side of the photo.

I would really like to try "Light Painting" in Cologne again. Maybe next time with more people, more lights!

If you'd like to join us next time we take a photowalk or plan some light-painting follow English Cologne or MyStadtKoeln on social media.
