Community is everything ...

The city of Cologne has nine municipal districts (Chorweiler, Ehrenfeld, Innenstadt, Kalk, Lindenthal, Mülheim, Nippes, Porz, Rodenkirchen).

Think of these districs as communities.

You live in Ehrenfeld?

Your local community is Ehrenfeld.

Own it. Say it aloud: "MY Ehrenfeld".

The community project "My Stadt Köln" follows this priciple for each municipal district. The aim is to transfer this idea of community. To awaken and activate your community. For good. For YOU.

It's not easy to change the way people think or behave. We encourage small easy steps. Give something in return. This is how we are building community.

Our bio is short and clear, but people following @MyStadtKoeln on Instagram may not yet fully understand that we are building community.

We started with a clean sheet of paper.

As of writing this the main hashtag on Instagram has been used over a thousand times.

How is "My Stadt Köln" different to other hashtags?

To be honest, at this point, there isn't a great deal of difference. It's up to you to understand the concept behind our use of the hashtag. To let that idea take root. The hashtags are a way into the idea. A small, easy step people can take to claim and advocate for their local communiuty.

We. You and me, are still at the start.

Use YOUR community hashtag when you share updates about Cologne. Take ownership of YOUR local communiuty. Add YOUR community hashtag into your bio on social sites. Join in. Build YOUR local community.

Part of community building is highlighting good community practice, the very best MyEhrenfeld community member currently is StreetsOfEhrenfeld.
