Why build the "MyStadtKöln" community project on Telegram?

Since the start of 2021 English Cologne is a part of a wider social community project called MyStadtKöln

 

The aim is to get lots of people involved! Most people will choose to just follow along with the project, that's cool; but some community members can hopefully be pursuaded to take a more active role as community leaders, publishing community updates directly. 

 

To make it as easy as possible for the community leaders to publish content we settled on using Telegram channels: @EnglishCologne and @MyStadtKoeln are the main Telegram channels, along with local brough channels.

Publish what? How?

If you would like to become a Community leader for the project first follow the Telegram channel you would like to publish to. After which you can be given publish access. Then you can post to the community channel while out and about using the Telegram App on you mobile phone; easily publishing updates containg text, photos, videos, voice messages, voice chats etc. 

Here's a few content examples posts, to give you an idea of what's possible.

 

Text - Note the formatting options!

Adding links in text is best done by hyperlinking the word or words. Here's a video on how to do that.

Image - Note the added image cation, the text of which can also be formatted.

 

Precaptured Video - Video can be edited in the Telegram app before sharing. Note that text has been added in the video caption, which can also be formatted.

Voice Updates - Recorded directly in the Telegram app.

Polls - There are a number of options when creating polls. Multiple answers, quiz mode and so forth.

Multiple Image Posts - Up to ten images can be shared in a single post.

Short round videos - These are recorded directly in the Telegram App and posted to the channel, but all Telescopes from the channe also appear on Telescope / Channel name.

Post Where?

There is a MyStadtKöln channel for each city borough.

 

These are German language channels, so your German would need to be proficient. You can keep up with who has channel access on the MyStadt Köln Telegram Authors page on here. 

 

If you can only write in English there is the English Cologne Telegram channel.
